CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate (National Competent Authority Approval) authorizes FishPac Pty Ltd., to handle, offer for transport or transport, and authorizes any person to handle, offer for transport or transport,by aircraft, dangerous goods that are UN1072, OXYGEN, COMPRESSED, Class 2.2(5.1), in accordance with Special Provision A302 of the Supplement to the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, 2015-2016 Edition, if:

(a) the cylinder or cylinder valve is fitted with a self-sealing device to prevent uncontrolled release of oxygen should the regulator malfunction or be broken, or damaged;

(b) each cylinder used meets the requirements of Part 5 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, except for the need for valves to be closed;

(c) the water container with the attached oxygen cylinder (transportation unit)

is engineered and constructed to withstand all anticipated loads;

(d) the water container is tilt-tested at an angle of 45° in four directions from the upright for a 10-minute minimum duration in each direction with the oxygen supply operating, without leakage of water;

CONDITIONS

(e) the oxygen cylinder and regulator are restrained and protected within the equipment;

(f) the oxygen regulator used has a maximum flow rate of not more than 5 litres per minute;

(g) the oxygen flow rate to the container is limited to that sufficient to provide life support to the aquatic animals;

(h) the quantity of oxygen provided does not exceed 150 percent of the oxygen required for the normal duration of air transport;

(i) only one cylinder is to be carried for each 15 cubic metres of gross cargo hold volume. In no circumstances is the rate of oxygen flow from the cylinder to exceed 1 litre per minute per 5 cubic metres of gross cargo hold volume;

(j) a paper or electronic copy of this authorization accompanies the dangerous goods during transport; and

(k) the shipping document which accompanies the dangerous goods includes the following information:

"Equivalency Certificate SA 9811 (Ren. 6)"

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

For the purpose of providing life support for aquatic animals during transport, the competent authority of Canada approves the carriage of a cylinder containing UN1072, OXYGEN, COMPRESSED, Class 2.2(5.1), with the valve open to supply a controlled quantity of oxygen through a regulator into the water containing the aquatic animals.
