Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the transportation of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in 112S340W, 112S400W, 112S500W, and 112S500I pressure tank cars that are not equipped with external metal jackets as is currently prescribed for products with significant inhalation hazards. This continues an existing long time practice for tank cars in this particular service in order to allow for the easy detection of hydrogen "blisters" on the external surface of the tank when they occur.
