CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Real Alloy Canada Ltd. or their agents, to handle, offer for transport or transport by road trailers, in specially designed crucibles, dangerous goods that are UN3257, ELEVATED TEMPERATURE LIQUID, N.O.S., Class 9, Packing Group III, in a manner that does not comply with subsection 4.15(1) the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, if:

(a) the dangerous goods are contained in specially designed crucibles on the specially designed transport trailers;

(b) the crucibles are adequately secured to the transport unit to prevent movement under normal conditions of transport;

(c) any leaks discovered during transport are adequately repaired before the journey is continued;

(d) a placard that corresponds to the placard set out in Part 4 (Dangerous Goods Safety Marks) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Relations is displayed on each side and each end of the vehicle;

CONDITIONS

(e) in addition to the requirements of Part 6 (Training) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the certificate holder ensures that the personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(f) the document that accompanies the dangerous goods includes the following information legibly and indelibly printed:

"Equivalency Certificate No. SH 5090 (Ren. 14)"

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

The applicant stated that this method of moving molten aluminum in specially designed crucibles has not changed in several years. Real Alloy Canada Ltd. will apply the placards to the trailer instead of the crucible as the placards would burn if applied to the crucible.
