CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Environment Canada, Water Survey of Canada, to handle, offer for transport or transport, by chartered cargo aircraft operated under subparts 2 or 3 of Part VII of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, dangerous goods in a manner that does not comply with subsection 12.1(2) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, if:

(a) the dangerous goods are handled, offered for transport or transported in compliance with section 12.12 - Aerial Work of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, except for subsection 12.12(1);

(b) the dangerous goods are essential for activities performed by Environment Canada, Water Survey of Canada, including hydrometry activities and maintenance of meteorological station;

(c) the dangerous goods are not forbidden for air transport as per Table 3-1 of Chapter 2 of Part 3 of the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air;

(d) the dangerous goods are handled, offered for transport or transported to the last aerodrome of departure in compliance with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations;

CONDITIONS

(e) the dangerous goods are loaded aboard the cargo aircraft or as an external load at the last aerodrome of departure to access the aerial work area and no stops are permitted at any other aerodrome except for emergency reasons or re-fuelling;

(f) the certificate holder ensures that the personnel handling and transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this certificate and a paper or electronic copy of the Equivalency Certificate accompanies the dangerous goods.

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.
