CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Ford Motor Company of Canada to handle, offer for transport or transport and authorizes any person to handle or transport on behalf of the certificate holder, by cargo aircraft, dangerous goods that are UN3480, LITHIUM ION BATTERIES, Class 9, in accordance with Special Provision A99 of the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air as incorporated by reference in section 12.1 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, under the following conditions:

(a) the dangerous goods are lithium ion batteries or assemblies that are used for propulsion systems in vehicles;

(b) each cell and battery have been determined to meet the criteria for assignment to Class 9 on the basis of tests carried out in accordance with the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3;

(c) the dangerous goods are packaged as per Packing Instruction 965 of the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air. Each means of containment contains only one (1) battery or battery assembly;

(d) the battery or battery assembly has a gross mass less than or equal to 1 000 kg;

(e) the certificate holder ensures that the personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(f) a paper or electronic copy of this Equivalency Certificate accompanies the dangerous goods;

(g) the shipping document that accompanies the dangerous goods includes the following information legibly and indelibly printed:

"Equivalency Certificate No. SA 12363"

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.
