CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Schlumberger Canada Limited, to handle, offer for transport or transport, and authorizes any person to handle or transport on behalf of the certificate holder, by road vehicle, dangerous goods that are UN0124, JET PERFORATING GUNS, CHARGED, oil well, without detonator, Class 1.1D, Packing Group II, in accordance with Packing Instruction EP01 as set out under Column VI of Table 6.1 of the standard CGSB 43.151‑2012, "Packaging, handling, offering for transport and transport of Explosives (Class 1)", October 2012, as incorporated by reference in section 5.8 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, if:

(a) the dangerous goods are classified and authorized in accordance with the Explosives Act;

(b) the jet perforating guns and initiation systems are segregated on the road vehicle in accordance with the Explosives Act, unless the jet perforating guns are fitted or packed with their own means of initiation, corresponding to a Ballistic Interrupt Module (BIM) armed with an electric detonator, having at least two protective features designed to prevent an explosion in the event of accidental functioning of the means of initiation;

(c) each shaped charge affixed to the jet perforating gun does not contain more than 112 grams (4 ounces) of explosives;

CONDITIONS

(d) the jet perforating guns are completely enclosed in glass or metal casings or each shaped charge is fully protected by a metal cover once affixed to the jet perforating gun;

(e) the road vehicle is equipped with specially built racks or carrying cases that are designed and constructed so that the jet perforating guns are securely held in place during transport and are protected from making contact with any other jet perforating gun, article or material carried in the vehicle;

(f) the jet perforating gun does not extend beyond the body of the vehicle;

(g) in addition to the requirements of Part 6 (Training) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the certificate holder ensures that the personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(h) the shipping document that accompanies the dangerous goods includes the following information legibly and indelibly marked:

(i) "Equivalency Certificate No. SH 11780",

(ii) "Packaging approved by the competent authority of Canada".

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the certificate holder to handle, offer for transport or transport,by road vehicle, dangerous goods that are UN0124, JET PERFORATING GUNS, CHARGED, oil well, without detonator, Class 1.1D, Packing Group II, in a manner that is similar to Packing Instruction US1 under 49CFR. It is important to note that the jet perforating guns may be fitted or packed with their own means of initiation, corresponding to a Ballistic Interrupt Module (BIM) armed with an electric detonator, provided that they have at least two protective features designed to prevent an explosion in the event of accidental functioning of the means of initiation.
