Explanatory Note

According to article 6.1.7 of National Standard of Canada CAN/CGSB-43.146-2002, "Design, Manufacture and Use of Intermediate Bulk Containers for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods", January 2002, the openings for a mobile IBC must be located in the vapour space of the IBC. However, a proposed draft of Standard CGSB-43.146 is currently being worked on and it would allow mobile IBCs to have openings located in the liquid space. The application for an Equivalency Certificate submitted by Beatrice Container Systems, LLC dba Titan IBC meets the requirements of this proposed draft. The IBC design 4-659 will include one bottom opening that will be completely enclosed within the footprint of the mobile IBC and closed by a valve that can be secured in the closed position.
