CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Radioprotection Inc., to handle, offer for transport or transport, and authorizes the clients of Radioprotection Inc. to handle, offer for transport or transport, by road vehicle, dangerous goods that are UN3363, DANGEROUS GOODS IN APPARATUS, Class 9, in a manner that does not comply with Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, and Part 6 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, under the following conditions:

(a) the dangerous goods are contained in and are not intended to be discharged from a Ludlum Model 9DP and 9DP* pressurized ion chamber survey meter containing UN1956, COMPRESSED GAS, N.O.S. (nitrogen, argon), Class 2.2, with a total capacity not exceeding 230 cm3 and an internal pressure not exceeding 811 kPa (8 atm) as described in the Operator's Manual submitted by Ludlum Measurements, Inc., and filed with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate;

(b) the dangerous goods are contained in and are not intended to be discharged from a Fluke 451P pressurized ion chamber survey meter containing UN1002, AIR, COMPRESSED, Class 2.2, with a total capacity not exceeding 230 cm3 and an internal pressure not exceeding 811 kPa (8 atm) as described in the Operator's Manual submitted by Fluke Biomedical and filed with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate;

(c) the dangerous goods are contained in and are not intended to be discharged from a Victoreen 450P pressurized ion chamber survey meter containing UN1002, AIR, COMPRESSED, Class 2.2, with a total capacity not exceeding 300 cm3 and an internal pressure not exceeding 608 kPa (6 atm) as described in the Operator's Manual submitted by Victoreen Inc., and filed with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate;

(d) the pressurized ion chamber survey meter containing the dangerous goods is transported in a UN 4G fiberboard box or a rigid plastic means of containment, which contains sufficient cushioning material to protect the survey meter from vibration and shock;

(e) the certificate holder ensures that the requirements of this Equivalency Certificate are communicated to the persons shipping the survey meters before they are offered for transport;

(f) the personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(g) a paper or electronic copy of this Equivalency Certificate accompanies the dangerous goods.

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Radioprotection Inc. and the clients of Radioprotection Inc. to transport, by road vehicle, dangerous goods that are contained in a Ludlum Model 9DP and 9DP*, a Fluke 451P or a Victoreen 450P Survey Meter. The pressurized ion chamber survey meter containing the dangerous goods must be transported in a UN 4G fiberboard box or a rigid plastic means of containment, which contains sufficient cushioning material to protect the survey meter from vibration and shock.
