CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Science World British Columbia to handle, offer for transport or transport, and authorizes any person to handle or transport on behalf of the certificate holder, by passenger ship on a domestic voyage, dangerous goods that are UN2014, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, AQUEOUS SOLUTION with not less than 20 per cent but not more than 60 per cent hydrogen peroxide, Class 5.1(8), Packing Group II, in a manner that does not comply with column 8 of Schedule 1 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, if:

(a) the dangerous goods are transported in accordance with the requirements prescribed in section 1.17 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations;

(b) the maximum quantity of dangerous goods per means of containment is less than or equal to 500 ml;

(c) the means of containment is placed in an outer means of containment that is closed, secured, and maintained so that under normal conditions of transport, including handling, there will be no accidental release of the dangerous goods that could endanger public safety;

CONDITIONS

(d) the certificate holder ensures that the captain of the passenger ship is aware of the presence of the dangerous goods on board the ship;

(e) the dangerous goods are shaded from heat and separated from permanganates and Class 4.1 dangerous goods;

(f) the certificate holder ensures that the personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(g) a paper or electronic copy of this Equivalency Certificate accompanies the dangerous goods.

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the certificate holder to transport UN2014, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, AQUEOUS SOLUTION with not less than 20 per cent but not more than 60 per cent hydrogen peroxide, Class 5.1(8), Packing Group II, which is FORBIDDEN for transport by passenger ship, in accordance with the requirements set out in section 1.17 (Limited Quantities) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations as well as the additional conditions stipulated in this certificate.
