This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Perimeter Aviation LP to handle, offer for transport or transport, by aircraft, under Part VII of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, dangerous goods that are UN1230, METHANOL, Class 3(6.1), Packing Group II, in a manner that does not comply with subsection 12.1(2) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, under the following conditions:

(a) the dangerous goods are transported in compliance with section 12.9 -Limited Access of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, except for subsection 12.9(2);

(b) the dangerous goods are contained in a small means of containment that is securely closed and marked with one of the following manufacturer's permanent markings: UN 1H1, UN 3A1, UN 3H1, UL or ULC;

(c) the quantity of dangerous is less than or equal to 25 L per means of containment;

(d) the air operator ensures that the personnel handling and transporting the dangerous goods is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;

(e) a paper or electronic copy of this Equivalency Certificate accompanies the dangerous goods.

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate allows the certificate holder to transport a water/methanol mixture, which is used to cool the aircraft engine on takeoff in hot weather conditions. The certificate holder indicated that an additional jerrican of the dangerous goods would be necessary to extend the range of a flight, when flying to communities where access is limited.
