CONDITIONS

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes Balchem Corporation to handle, offer for transport or transport and authorizes any person to handle or transport on behalf of the certificate holder, by road or railway vehicle, or by ship on a domestic voyage, dangerous goods that are UN1962, ETHYLENE, COMPRESSED, Class 2.1, in a manner that does not comply with subsection 5.1(3)of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, under the following conditions:

(a) the dangerous goods are contained in TC-2Q specification aerosol containers, which meet the requirements of Part 5 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations;

(b) the aerosol containers are secured in a protective magazine made of metal, plastic or fiberboard;

(c) the total quantity of dangerous goods per magazine is less than or equal to 96 g;

(d) the vented container (transport unit or freight container), containing the produce, contains only one magazine;

CONDITIONS

(e) the dangerous goods flow rate to the vented container (transport unit or freight container) is limited to that needed for the ripening of the produce;

(f) the shipping document includes the following information legibly and indelibly printed:

"Equivalency Certificate No. SU 10504 (Ren. 3)"

Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation Regulationsnot specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the certificate holder to transport aerosol containers of ethylene gas in a manner that does not comply with subsection 5.1(3) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. During transport, the ethylene gas is released and used in the ripening process of bananas or other produce.
