About Us
This equipment package aggregates and processes traffic probe data collected from equipped vehicles, toll operators, and transit centres. It also collects, aggregates, and processes environmental probe data from equipped vehicles. Probe data may be collected through direct wide area wireless communications with vehicles or through short range communications equipment at the roadside. Aggregated probe data and derived route travel times and environmental conditions information are distributed to other centres and other equipment packages that use the information to support transportation operations and traveller information services.
Subsystem:
Service Packages:
Functionality:
Functional Requirements:
- The centre shall collect traffic probe data (speeds, travel times, etc.) from appropriately equipped vehicles and short range communications equipment.
- The centre shall aggregate collected traffic probe data, calculate route segment travel times, route segment speeds, and route usage, and disseminate to other centres.
- The centre shall collect environmental probe data (air temperature, exterior light status, wiper status, traction control status, etc.) from appropriately equipped vehicles and short range communications equipment.
- The centre shall aggregate collected environmental probe data and disseminate the aggregated environmental probe data to other centres.
- The centre shall receive traffic probe data collected by transit fleet operators and include this data in aggregated probe data provided to other centres.
- The centre shall receive traffic probe data derived from electronic toll collection operations and include this data in aggregated probe data provided to other centres.
