MCM Speed Monitoring

This equipment package remotely monitors and controls devices that monitor vehicle speeds and optionally provide safe speed advisories to the motorist. If excessive speeds are detected, this equipment package also includes the capability to notify an enforcement agency and request traffic enforcement in work zones or other areas where excessive speeds are identified.

Functional Requirements:
  1. The centre shall remotely control vehicle speed sensors typically placed in work zones; control parameters may include environmental and traffic conditions.
  2. The centre shall collect operational status for the vehicle speed sensors; the status shall include logged information including measured speeds, warning messages displayed, and violation records.
  3. The centre shall provide the capability to notify an enforcement agency when vehicle speeds in the work zone are in excess of the posted speed limit or are creating an unsafe condition based upon the current environmental or traffic conditions.
  4. The centre shall collect fault data for the vehicle speed sensors for repair.
