About Us
The equipment package augments the driver’s ability to see objects in the vehicle path in conditions where visibility is poor (e.g., bad weather, night driving, etc.). These capabilities are provided using on-board sensors (e.g., an infrared sensor system) to create images that are displayed to the driver (e.g., using a heads up display).
Subsystem:
Service Packages:
Functionality:
Functional Requirements:
- The vehicle shall collect and process data from the roadside environment relating to the physical roadway characteristics. These include the roadway geometry, and type of roadway surface (paved, gravel, etc.).
- The vehicle shall display data for an enhanced version of the picture obtained from other sensor(s) in the vehicle. This picture will show the driver's field of view, and will be enhanced to increase clarity under conditions such as poor visibility, darkness, etc.
- The vehicle shall present information to the driver in audible or visual forms without impairing the driver's ability to control the vehicle in a safe manner.
